Electric Heaters
Electric heat has become more of a mainstay then gas heat. Gas heat was used as a primary source of heat for a very long time; the same with propane. Propane and gas heaters are still used in mobile homes, trailers, etc.
Electric heat is useful and similar, if the same to central air. A furnace in the basement will generate electric heat as long as there is electricity to power it. In the case of a power outage the furnace will stop working. Having gas heat for backup or propane is a good investment if you live far from civilization, or have frequent power outages (or no power at all).
